Captain Austin J. Snyder was born and raised in Oregon’s Willamette Valley. He studied exercise science at Western Oregon University and earned his commission through Oregon State University’s ROTC program June 2012.

Snyder was assigned to the Air Defense Artillery (ADA) and completed Basic Officer Leadership Course at Fort Sill, Okla. in January 2013. His first assignment was launcher platoon leader in B Battery, 3rd Battalion 4th ADA Regiment at Fort Bragg, N.C. From February 2014 to February 2015 Snyder deployed with his battery to the CENTCOM AOR as a tactical control officer in support of Operation Enduring Freedom/Operation Inherent Resolve. Upon his redeployment, Snyder served as the battery’s executive officer until his attendance of the ADA Captains Career Course at Fort Sill in May 2016. Following his graduation, Snyder was assigned to Headquarters/A Battery, 2-6th ADA at Fort Sill.

Snyder’s awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medal (with one oak leaf cluster), the Army Achievement Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal (II), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon and the Parachutist Badge.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in exercise xcience from Western Oregon University. His military education includes Basic Airborne School, U.S. Army Combatives Level I, Air Defense Basic Officer Leadership Course, and the Air Defense Captains Career Course.

Snyder married his high school sweetheart, Rachel, in August 2011. Together they have two children, Elijah and Josiah.
