1SG Jeremy Kagan enlisted in the U.S. Army in May of 1999. He attended Basic Combat Training at Fort Sill, OK and AIT as an Avenger Crewmember at Fort Bliss, TX. 1SG Kagan’s previous assignments include C BTRY 1-44 ADA, Fort Carson, CO, B BTRY 1-4 ADA, McCully Barracks, Germany, E CO 2nd BN, 28th IN (BCT) and E CO, 3rd BN, 13th IN (BCT) Fort Jackson, SC, E BTRY, 5th BN, 52nd ADA, Fort Bliss, TX, 54th BDE, 6th Iraqi Army BDE Military Transition Team, JSS Mansour, Iraq, E BTRY, 2nd BN, 43rd ADA, Fort Bliss, TX, Provincial Response Company—Kandahar, Security Force Assistance Team, Camp Dimond, Afghanistan. He has three combat deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.

1SG Kagan’s leadership positions include: Stinger Team Chief, Avenger Section Sergeant, Drill Sergeant, Battery Avenger Master Gunner, Avenger Platoon Sergeant, Senior AIT Instructor/Writer, Academics Chief, and Battery First Sergeant. 1SG Kagan’s military education includes Basic Combat Training, Advanced Individual Training, Primary Leadership Development Course, Drill Sergeant School, Basic Non-Commissioned Officers Course, Advanced Non-Commissioned Officers Course, Military Transition Team Training Course, Military Advisor and Security Assistance Training Course, Army Basic Instructor Course, Cadre Training Course and the Company Commander and First Sergeant’s Course.

1SG Kagan’s awards and decorations include: Army Commendation medal (6OLC), Army Achievement Medal (5OLC), Joint Meritorious Unit Citation, Valorous Unit Award, Meritorious Unit Citation, Superior Unit Award, Good Conduct Medal (3rd AWD), Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghan Campaign Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terror Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terror Service Ribbon, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Ribbon, Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (Numeral 3), Overseas Service Ribbon (Numeral 3), NATO Medal, Combat Action Badge and the Drill Sergeant Badge. He is also a member of the Honorable Order of St. Barbara.

1SG Kagan is married to the former Valerie Hyatt and together they have one son, Sean, who is 5 years old.
