On a shield shaped embroidered item 3 inches (7.62 cm) in height by 2 3/4 inches (6.99 cm) in width overall and edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) Black border, blazoned as follows: Quarterly Sable and Argent, two lightning bolts saltirewise Or, surmounted by a torch of the third enflamed Gules.
The black and white colors on the shield reflect the importance of digital data communications to the cyber mission. The crossed lightning bolts represent the convergence of the Electronic Warfare and Cyber Schools under one torch. The torch represents the Cyber Training Battalion’s primary mission as an educational institution.
The shoulder sleeve insignia was approved on 19 November 2015. (TIOH Dwg. No. A-1-1108)
On an oval Gold color metal and epoxied device 1 1/4 inches (3.18 cm) in height consisting of a Black oval displaying a pair of diagonally crossed lightning bolts, surmounted by a vertical sword, point up, through the center, all Gold, overall a shield blazoned: Quarterly Gris and Argent, a bezant bearing a keyhole Sable, all within a diminished bordure Or. Within the device, at the bottom, a Gray triparted scroll with the inscription “DEFEND, DOMINATE, ASSURE” in Gold.
TBlack signifies the hidden nature of cyberspace operations and the importance of privacy and security. Silver (Gray) embodies the technological emphasis and the balance between offensive and defensive capabilities. Gold is symbolic of success and emphasizes domination in the cyber domain. The lightning bolts indicate the swift nature of electronic warfare. The sword represents offensive missions, while the shield is indicative of defense. The keyhole alludes to exploitation missions and is in the center of the shield to represent every defense having a weakness.
