Education/Training

Education/ Training

Most transitioning military personnel have some sort of education benefits/entitlements available to them.  Several programs sponsored by the VA offer financial assistance for those eligible veterans contemplating the continuation of their education and training.  Benefits under the Montgomery GI Bill and the Veterans' Educational Assistance Program (VEAP) were created to assist veterans in developing the skills and training required for employment opportunities. The benefits under these programs must be used within 10 years from your separation or retirement date.  For more information, contact the Army Education Center at (580) 442-5393.
Veterans can contact the Department of Veterans Affairs' National Automated Response System (NARS) at 1-888-GI-BILL-1. By calling NARS, veterans can get case-specific information on:

·      Date and amount of their last payment

·      Certification of enrollment status

·      Dates of current education award

·      Amount of monthly payment

·      Remaining entitlement

·      Generic VA education benefits

NARS is operational 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
