Advanced Instructor Course (AIC)
Course Overview

The Advanced Instructor Course is a Common Faculty Development Phase Four re-certification/refresher course. It is a three-day/24-hour course that assumes participants entering the course are at different levels of mastery in managing learning environments. Instructors who attend, are current certified instructors that have taken the current ArmyU foundational course or equivalent course in the past five years. The course is designed to provide seasoned instructors with the necessary updates, resources, and information to obtain re-certification. This course fulfills TRADOC Regulation 350-70 Faculty Development 5-year re-certification requirement for FCoE Instructor faculty. The course provides certified instructors with a review of FCoE policies and procedures, ALC 2020-2040, critical thinking, lesson plan review, instructor ibstpi competencies, KOLB’s Learning Style Inventory (LSI), Army ELM review, lesson plan evaluation, ADDIE, best practices, and team teaching. The practice includes observation, intervention, and facilitation skills for the purpose of improving student learning. Feedback from peers, the facilitation team, and self-assessment is the vehicle for the team teaching assessment that will assist participants in being successful in this class.

Enrollment Pre-requisites

School registrars will provide the DOTD, FSDD registrar with the following paperwork:

  1. Certificate of completion of ABIC/CFD-IC or ArmyU equivalent qualification Course
  2. Certificate of completion Blackboard 101
  3. Verification of current instructor certification
  4. Registrar Enrollment Form
  5. Certificate of completion of Risk Management (within 1 year)
  6. Computer Access memorandum signed by IT Supervisor/Coordinator (individuals must have FCoE computer access during course)

Course Pre-Requisites:
The Registrar will notify participants of course date enrollment upon completion/submission of enrollment pre-requisites. Ten (10) working days prior to class start date, the participant will receive a copy of course Advance Sheet, Letter of Instruction (LOI), and Individual Student Assessment Plan (ISAP). This information must be read prior to the course and any pre-assignments completed/submitted, if applicable. Information is available on the Faculty Development SharePoint: (**CAC Required**)
