Chief New Equipment Training and Integration Team

LTC Russell W. Kinzie

Lieutenant Colonel Kinzie is the Chief, New Equipment Training and Integration Team (NET-IT) which is under Capabilities Development and Integration Directorate (CDID), Fort Sill, OK. He recently was the Assistant TRADOC Capabilities Manager (TCM) Brigade Combat Team (BCT) Fires from 1 June 2015 – 15 June 2016, managing profiles for the FA Cannon and IPADS-G (Survey) systems. Along with management of the NET-IT team, he will conduct Doctrine, Tactics and Training (DTT) Leader Briefs during the New Equipment Training (NET) for both Active Duty and Army National Guard Field Artillery (FA) units.

LTC Kinzie began as a Combat Medic for the CO-ARNG and transferred to KS-ARNG while obtaining his Bachelor’s Degree of Science from McPherson College (1994) and Master’s Degree of Science from Kansas State University (2010). He was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the Kansas Army National Guard via Officer Candidate School as a Field Artillery Officer in 1996. LTC Kinzie graduated from FA Officer Basic Course in 1998, FA Advance Course in 2004, and Command and General Staff College in 2009.

He served as a Fire Direction Officer and Platoon Leader for Alpha Battery, 1-161 FA; and Platoon Leader/Executive Officer and Battery Commander for Charlie Battery, 1-161 FA. Deployed June 2006 to June 2007 with 130th FA BDE as the S2 Battle Captain and Targeting Officer in support of OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM. Was assigned at Fort Riley as a Battalion Executive Officer for a Warrior Transition Unit under First Infantry Division, January 2008 to January 2009; Assistant Training Officer (Battle Command Training Center) Fort Leavenworth, KS February 2010 to January 2011; G3 Training Officer and Deputy Mobilization Chief for (First Army, Division West) at Fort Hood, TX from February 2011 to May 2013; Chief, Distributed Learning (DL) Capabilities (ARNG Readiness Center) Arlington, VA from June 2013 to May 2015; and coming for Fort Sill, OK as the Assistant TRADOC Capabilities Manager (TCM) Brigade Combat Team (BCT) Fires until being promoted to LTC on 1 June 2016 and assigned as Chief, NET-IT.

MSG Robert Rivera

MSG Rivera entered the Army in January 1999. He is a native of Clewiston, FL and completed OSUT as a 13B Cannon Crewmember at Fort Sill, OK.

His assignments include Cannoneer, A Battery, 1st Battalion, 321st Airborne Field Artillery Regiment, Fort Bragg, NC; Section Chief, C Battery, 2nd Battalion, 82nd Field Artillery, Fort Hood, TX; Instructor/Writer, HHB 1st Battalion, 30th Field Artillery, Fort Sill, OK; Section Chief, A Battery, 1st Battalion, 15th Field Artillery, Camp Hovey, Korea; Recruiter, Missouri City Recruiting Station, Houston, TX; Platoon Sergeant, A and C Battery, 1st Battalion, 37th Field Artillery, Fort Lewis, WA; Platoon Sergeant/ Battalion Operations Sergeant, 4th Battalion, 319th Airborne Field Artillery Regiment; and is currently serving as the New Equipment Training and Integration Team’s (NET-IT) Chief Instructor, Fort Sill, OK.

He is a graduate of the Basic, Advanced and Senior Leaders Courses. Additionally he is a graduate of the Basic Airborne course, Air Assault course, EO course, Combative level 1 and 2 courses, Field Artillery Weapons Maintenance course, NBC course and the Total Army Instructor Training course,

His awards and decorations include the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (six OLC’s)), Army Achievement Medal (eight OLC's), Good Conduct Medal (sixth Award), National Defense Service Medal, Korea Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon (Numeral 3), Overseas Service Ribbon (Numeral 4), the NATO Medal, Venezuelan and German Airborne wings, and the Combat Action Badge. He is a member of the prestigious Sergeant Audie Murphy.

MSG Rivera is married to Brenda Cardenas-Rivera and they have two children, Kassandra 5 and Robert 3.


Develop, coordinate, plan and execute doctrine and tactics training strategies for all new and displaced Field Artillery lethal and non-lethal systems. Provide support and USAFCoE oversight for New Equipment Training (NET) and Displaced Equipment Training (DET).
