COLLATERAL DAMAGE ESTIMATION (CDE)

Purpose: To train targeting personnel in Collateral Damage Estimation (CDE), including staff personnel who provide support to the targeting process (intelligence, legal, and fire support personnel).

Phase Scope: To train and certify personnel assigned to fire support and targeting cells (including intelligence and legal support to the targeting process), advising a supported ground commander, in conducting Collateral Damage Estimation to support the effective employment of joint and organic fire support assets. Part of this process includes the responsibility of determining precise target location and mitigating collateral damage using Collateral Damage Estimation (CDE) through the application of approved Collateral Damage Estimate Methodology (CDM) in accordance with CJCSI 3160.01B, No-Strike and the Collateral Damage Estimation Methodology, for the employment of joint and organic munitions.

Phase Prerequisites: U.S. Army Active, Reserve, and National Guard, USMC Active and Reserve, Civilian GS11 thru GS14. MOS 13F, E5 through E-9, 131A W01 through CW5, Officer 13A, 27A and 35D, O-1 through O-5. SECRET security clearance required and verified in the Joint Personnel Adjudication System (JPAS) via a visit request. Soldiers who graduate 250-13F10 Joint Fire Support Specialist, AIT after 18 November 2015 will not be able to nor required to attend this Precision Fires functional course.
