75th FA Brigade Chaplain (MAJ) Patricia G. Nichols Chaplain Patricia Nichols was born in Boone, North Carolina but grew up in West Germany. As the daughter of a civilian pastor, she lived in Wurzburg and Frankfurt, Germany from 1979 to 1989 before returning to the United States for college. Chaplain Nichols graduated magnum cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in English from Lee University, Cleveland, Tennessee in 1993. Following graduation, Patricia taught high school English first in Cleveland, Tennessee and later in Killeen, Texas (1997-1998).

Chaplain Nichols commissioned as a Second Lieutenant Chaplain Candidate in June of 2005. She holds a Master of Divinity from the Church of God Theological Seminary and is ordained and endorsed by the Church of God (Cleveland, Tennessee). She was promoted to Captain and accessioned to active duty in 2008, assigned to 72d Expeditionary Signal Battalion in Mannheim, Germany, and deployed to Iraq with this unit which was dispersed to 24 locations throughout the entire area of operations.

In 2011, Chaplain Nichols served with 120th Adjutant General Battalion (Reception), Fort Jackson, SC before transitioning to 4th Battalion 10th Infantry Regiment also at Fort Jackson. Upon completion of her career course, Chaplain Nichols was assigned to the 502d Military Intelligence Battalion, Joint Base Lewis-McCord (JBLM), Washington. She also served two years with the 504th Military Police Battalion, JBLM. Chaplain Nichols was promoted to Major in November of 2017 and served as the Brigade Chaplain for 428th Field Artillery Brigade, Fort Sill, Oklahoma for two years before assuming the role of brigade Chaplain for 75th Field Artillery Brigade, III Corps, Fort Sill, Oklahoma.

Chaplain Nichols’ military education includes Chaplains Basic Officers Leaders Course at Fort Jackson, SC, a three-month practicum at the Fort Benning Family Life Training Center, Chaplain Captains Career Course at Fort Jackson, SC, and Command and General Staff Officer Course at Fort Belvoir, VA.

Chaplain Nichols’ awards include: The Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal (1 OLC), Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Ribbon (Numeral 2), Meritorious Unit Commendation (2), and the Army Superior Unit Award.

Chaplain Nichols has been married to CH (COL) Jimmy Nichols since November 1987. They have four sons: Wesley, a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (married to Megan); Nathan, a human resources manager (married to Kaylee); John Christopher, an airborne paralegal in the 82nd at Fort Bragg, NC, and Jeffrey, a freshman in college.
